Saudi Arabia launched its 2026 seasonal influenza vaccination campaign on 16 September 2026, urging residents to get their annual flu shot ahead of the colder months. The vaccine is available free of charge at Ministry of Health health centers across the Kingdom.
Appointments can be booked through the Sehhaty (صحتي) application using the “Seasonal Influenza Vaccine” service. Health authorities recommend annual vaccination because influenza viruses change from one season to the next, meaning last year's protection may no longer be enough.
Who Should Get Vaccinated First
Priority is given to people most at risk of complications. These groups include those with chronic diseases, adults over the age of 50, children between 6 months and 5 years old, pregnant women, people with severe obesity, and healthcare workers.
For those unable to visit a health center, a home vaccination service is available through the Sanar application, targeting vulnerable groups such as children, pregnant women, and older people.
The seasonal flu can cause serious illness, particularly among the elderly and those with existing health conditions. For Riyadh and Jeddah communities, getting vaccinated early helps reduce the spread of the virus and protects family members who are most vulnerable. Residents are encouraged to book their appointments through Sehhaty and take advantage of the free service before the season peaks.
