The Ministry of Health has called on parents of children entering first grade to complete the school fitness screening required for newly enrolled students in Saudi schools. The service is offered free of charge at primary healthcare centers across the Kingdom.
Parents can book an appointment through the Sehhaty application. After logging in, select Appointments, then Book an Appointment, choose a primary healthcare center, select the Family Medicine Clinic, pick a suitable date and time, and confirm the booking.
The student must attend the appointment accompanied by a parent or guardian. Required documents include the student's national ID or residence permit and the original vaccination certificate.
What the screening covers
The examination includes a review of the child's medical and family history, verification of vaccinations, and a clinical examination. It also measures height, weight and body mass index (BMI), and checks vision, hearing, speech and articulation, along with a dental and oral check. Results are recorded electronically, and children are referred or given guidance when medically necessary.
Completing the screening early helps families confirm their child is healthy and ready for school, and allows any issue to be addressed before the academic year gets underway. Parents are encouraged to book their appointment in good time to avoid delays.
