OPEC+ Raises August Output; Saudi Quota Up 62,000 bpd

OPEC+ has agreed to raise oil production for August 2026, with a combined quota increase of 188,000 barrels per day (bpd) shared among seven member countries, including Saudi Arabia. The move is part of a series of monthly quota increases scheduled through 2026.

Under the agreement, Saudi Arabia's quota rises by 62,000 bpd, lifting its required production ceiling to roughly 10.4 million bpd. The adjustment represents a partial unwind of the voluntary production cuts that were first introduced in April 2023.

It is important to note that the decision is a quota, or ceiling, adjustment rather than a mandate to produce at the full level. Actual Saudi output has been running materially below the ceiling, meaning the change sets the maximum permitted volume rather than guaranteed production.

What it means for the community

For residents and expats, this OPEC+ decision does not attach any new public fees, end-user prices, or procedures to government platforms such as Absher, Muqeem, Qiwa, Najiz, Nafath or Tawakkalna. The quota change is implemented through ministerial decisions and Saudi Aramco's production planning.

Domestic fuel prices are not linked to this announcement. Any local fuel price adjustments continue to be handled through national pricing frameworks that operate separately from OPEC+ quota decisions.

On international markets, Saudi Arabia set the official selling price for Arab Light crude to Asia for August 2026 at USD 1.50 per barrel below the Oman/Dubai average — the largest monthly cut in that differential since records began in 2003.
