Qassim Trains Young Saudis for Date Harvest

A training program in the Qassim region has qualified young Saudis to work in the date-palm sector, focusing on seasonal harvesting skills and best agricultural practices. The second-phase initiative was delivered by the Qassim Agricultural Training Center in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation.

The program aimed to prepare national cadres for one of the Kingdom's key agricultural sectors. Trainees learned modern methods designed to improve the quality of the date harvest and strengthen its competitiveness in the market.

the cohort included more than 200 participants, with more than 70 completing the second phase of the training.

Why it matters

Dates are a cornerstone of Saudi agriculture and a source of national pride, and the sector offers growing opportunities for young workers. Equipping local youth with hands-on harvesting and cultivation skills supports higher-quality produce and opens career paths in a field that has long relied on seasonal labor.

The effort sits alongside a broader Agricultural Awareness Program in the Palm and Dates Sector, which has no requirements to benefit and is delivered through exhibitions, training courses, and field workshops across regions. Recent activity has also included date-season and harvest campaigns and youth-focused date-market initiatives in Qassim, Medina, and AlUla.

No fee, payment requirement, or online booking step was announced for the training, and as an initiative rather than a permit, it carries no stated validity period.
