The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has awarded the design-and-build contract for the new Riyadh Expo metro station, which will serve the Expo 2030 Riyadh site in north Riyadh. The station sits on Riyadh Metro Line 4, also known as the Yellow Line, and the contract has gone to Freyssinet Saudi Arabia.
Under the design-and-build arrangement, the contractor's scope covers full station design and construction so the new stop integrates seamlessly with the existing Line 4 alignment. The station is located within or directly adjacent to the Expo 2030 Riyadh site boundary and is set to be the first stop travelling from King Khalid International Airport toward central Riyadh.
As of early September 2026, no official contract value in Saudi Riyal has been publicly disclosed for this metro station package. The award followed a public tender process during 2026, with tender documents to be obtained or submitted by 26 February 2026 and a final bid submission deadline around 3 May 2026 at 12:00 pm, with bids opened later the same day.
The metro station is one piece of a much larger Expo 2030 Riyadh development, estimated at roughly USD 7.8 billion in total value and spanning multiple infrastructure and construction packages. A primary utilities and infrastructure package for the Expo site — covering roads, integrated networks and utilities across about 6 km² and roughly 50 km of networks — was awarded to Nesma & Partners at an approximate value of USD 267 million. A second phase of site infrastructure has been reported at about SAR 2 billion following masterplan finalisation.
For residents and visitors, the new station promises a direct rail link between the airport and the Expo site, strengthening public transport options in north Riyadh ahead of the event. Station-specific fares, Expo passes and any e-government access processes have not yet been formally announced.
