Saudi Arabia is moving forward with one of the region's largest artificial intelligence infrastructure programs, as HUMAIN — a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund — develops large-scale AI factories powered by NVIDIA hardware, alongside the first international expansion of the AI company xAI.
HUMAIN is building AI factories with a projected capacity of up to 500 megawatts, powered by several hundred thousand NVIDIA GPUs over roughly five years. As a first phase, the company has contracted 18,000 NVIDIA GB300/GB200 Blackwell GPUs to form an initial AI supercomputer cluster linked by high-speed InfiniBand networking.
The first 18,000 Blackwell GPUs were delivered through late 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, with an estimated 60–70% commissioned into Phase 1 racks by early 2026 and the rest planned for mid-2026. A second tranche of around 18,000 Blackwell GPUs is set for staged delivery across 2026, in line with Phase 2 expansion.
New data centers in Riyadh and Dammam
HUMAIN has broken ground on two Saudi data centers in Riyadh and Dammam in the Eastern Province, each with an initial capacity of up to about 100 MW. The first facilities are expected to be operational in the second quarter of 2026. By the fourth quarter of 2026, the Riyadh data-center corridor and associated campuses are planned to reach around 500 MW of operational compute capacity.
xAI is undertaking its first expansion outside the United States in Saudi Arabia, starting with an initial 50 MW capacity hosted within HUMAIN's infrastructure and planned to grow beyond 500 MW in later phases. The flagship HUMAIN–xAI facility is designed as a 500 MW+ AI factory built around NVIDIA Blackwell-generation GPUs, positioned as xAI's primary training and inference hub outside the US.
Wider national plans envisage an AI compute pipeline of around 6.6 GW by 2034, supported by 211 land plots with access to roughly 14 GW of power and cumulative infrastructure investment in the tens of billions of US dollars. For residents and businesses, the buildout signals faster growth in local data capacity, jobs, and digital services as the kingdom positions itself as a regional AI hub.
