Saudi Arabia Launches 20 Youth Empowerment Initiatives

Saudi Arabia has launched a national Youth Development Strategy that runs through 2030, introducing 20 initiatives designed to empower young Saudis across the country. The strategy was rolled out in January 2024 through the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and its youth administration.

The strategy treats Saudi youth as a national wealth, and is built on 10 strategic goals and 5 main pillars covering economic empowerment, community participation, education and lifelong learning, health and wellbeing, and national identity and values. It targets young people aged roughly 15 to 34, including school, university, early-career, and unemployed youth.

The 20 initiatives are organized within 40 projects and delivered in partnership with more than 30 government and private entities. They focus on areas such as youth-work regulations and protection, capacity-building for youth workers and institutions, participation in decision-making, financial support for youth-led initiatives, digital safety, anti-discrimination, and inclusion for youth with disabilities.

Implementation runs through existing official channels, including the Ministry's online portal (Youth Empowerment section), the Doroob e-training platform, the Tamheer program for graduate training placements, and Hadaf Leadership Academy along with other Human Resources Development Fund programs.

Why it matters

The strategy is aligned with رؤية السعودية 2030 programs, including the Human Capability Development Program, Quality of Life Program, Housing Program, Financial Sector Development Program, and National Transformation Program. It aims to raise youth participation across 24 key industries and improve youth development indicators nationwide. For young residents in الرياض, جدة and beyond, the initiatives offer clearer pathways to training, employment, and community engagement.
