Total consumer spending in Saudi Arabia reached about SAR 130.1 billion in June 2026, an increase of roughly 6.1% compared with the same month a year earlier, The growth points to steady household activity across the Kingdom, even as prices remained largely stable.
The bulk of spending flowed through point-of-sale (POS) transactions, which totaled around SAR 57.5 billion. ATM cash withdrawals accounted for about SAR 39 billion, while e-commerce payments made with Mada cards reached roughly SAR 33.6 billion, underlining the continued shift toward digital and card-based payments.
Within POS spending, food and beverages led with about SAR 9.20 billion, followed by restaurants and cafés at around SAR 7.05 billion. Clothing and accessories retail and wholesale recorded about SAR 4.45 billion, transport around SAR 4.42 billion, and fuel stations close to SAR 4.10 billion.
Inflation stays modest
On the prices side, the annual inflation rate in June 2026 stood at 1.8%, with the Consumer Price Index rising just 0.2% from May 2026. The index reached about 105.4 points, compared with roughly 103.6 points a year earlier. Housing costs — particularly rents — were the largest single contributor to the headline rate, alongside food and beverages and transport.
For residents and expats in Riyadh, Jeddah and beyond, the combination of rising spending and low inflation suggests household budgets are absorbing steady demand without sharp price shocks. These are macroeconomic indicators only, and are not linked to any government service fees, visa charges, or e-service steps.
