Saudi Crude Output Hits 30-Year Low in August

Saudi Arabia's crude oil production fell to roughly 6.2 million barrels per day in August 2026, marking the lowest level since around 1990 and the weakest output in more than three decades,

Total crude supply to the market — which combines production with volumes drawn from storage for exports and domestic use — dropped by about 2.3 million barrels leaving supply at roughly 6 million barrels Observed exports and shipments came in around 3.0–3.2 million barrels described as the lowest in at least 9 to 13 years based on tanker-tracking figures.

Crude loadings, including from Red Sea ports and less-visible "dark" shipping, fell by about 1.1 million barrels 5 million barrels Exports from key terminals such as Yanbu on the Red Sea saw steep declines relative to June and July. To help maintain market supply, stored crude was drawn down, with inventories estimated to fall by about 0.4 million barrels

The sharp reductions across output, supply, loadings, exports and inventories were linked to attacks and disruptions affecting energy facilities and shipping routes in the Persian Gulf and Red Sea regions.

For residents and businesses, developments in the energy sector are worth following closely, as oil remains central to the national economy. At present, no changes to domestic retail fuel prices or official fee schedules have been published in direct connection with these supply figures.
