Saudi Inflation Holds Steady at 1.8% in August

Saudi Arabia's annual inflation rate stood at 1.8% in August 2026, reflecting continued price stability across the Kingdom. The figure measures the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) compared with August 2025 and covers consumer prices nationwide rather than any single region or income group.

Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels remained the biggest driver of price growth, rising by around 3.9% year-on-year. Transport costs increased by about 2.0%, while food and beverage prices went up by roughly 1.4% over the same period.

On a monthly basis, the overall index edged up by about 0.1% between July and August 2026, pointing to only marginal movement in prices from one month to the next.

Why it matters

The annual inflation rate has hovered around 1.8% for several consecutive months leading up to August, signalling relatively stable and low inflation. For residents and expats managing household budgets in cities such as Riyadh and Jeddah, steady prices make it easier to plan monthly spending, though housing and utility costs continue to weigh most heavily on the cost of living.

Saudi Living will continue to track official inflation updates and how they affect everyday expenses for the community across the Kingdom.
