Saudi Schools Launch Digital Student ID Cards With QR

Saudi public schools are introducing digital student ID cards equipped with QR codes for all male and female students, starting with the 2026–2027 school year. The move is part of a wider education digitization initiative that replaces paper-based student follow-up and monitoring.

The digital ID is an official electronic identity presented in a standardized format for every student. It includes the student's name, nationality, identity number, school, and grade level. The QR code allows competent authorities to electronically verify the validity of a student's identity information for official use, replacing manual or paper-based checks.

The service is provided free of charge through the Ministry of Education's Unified Education Portal. There are no additional فees specified for issuing or using the QR-code student ID within the school system. Students and parents access the card through the portal as part of broader e-services covering homework, tests, school tasks, and communication tools.

What it means for families

With the rollout, school tasks, assignments, and communication move fully to the unified digital platform. Students, parents, and teachers can view homework, periodic tests, and school assignments and message one another without needing to visit the school in person, all tied to the student's digital profile.

Access to the Unified Education Portal and related platforms such as Madrasati can be made using نفاذ-based login or student credentials, integrating the student's digital identity into national authentication mechanisms. As of late August 2026, no separate price list, paid subscription, or fee schedule for the student QR digital ID has been published; the service is treated as a standard part of public education. The initiative forms part of the broader national digital identity ecosystem, alongside existing QR-based digital national IDs and resident IDs for citizens and residents.
