Saudi Tourism Spending Hits $81 Billion in 2025

Tourism spending in Saudi Arabia reached SAR 300 billion (about $81 billion) in 2025, lifting the sector's contribution to 5% of the Kingdom's gross domestic product, The milestone marks a significant step in the growth of one of the Kingdom's fastest-expanding economic sectors.

The 2025 total represents a notable rise from the previous year. In 2024, tourism spending was estimated at SAR 231.5 billion, accounting for 4.9% of GDP. The jump to SAR 300 billion in a single year reflects growing visitor numbers and higher spending across the country.

The latest figures also mean an earlier expectation — that tourism revenues would reach $81 billion by 2026 — has been achieved ahead of schedule, with 2025 spending already at that level.

Looking ahead, market models project tourism revenues could climb to around SAR 120 billion by the end of 2026. This remains a forecast rather than a confirmed spending figure, but it points to continued momentum in the sector.

Why it matters

For residents and expats across Riyadh, Jeddah and beyond, the rapid growth of tourism translates into more jobs, new attractions, expanded hospitality options and greater investment in cities and destinations nationwide. The sector's rising share of GDP underlines its role as a central pillar of the Kingdom's economic diversification efforts under رؤية السعودية 2030.

As tourism continues to expand, communities are likely to see further development in entertainment, dining, transport and cultural offerings — reshaping how people live, work and spend their leisure time across the country.
