Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed the Public Investment Fund's ambition to reach a portfolio worth around 3 trillion SAR by 2026, as part of the Kingdom's ongoing economic transformation plans linked to رؤية السعودية 2030.
The fund's assets under management stood at about 3.396 trillion SAR in 2025, a slight decrease from around 3.434 trillion SAR in 2024. Under its approved 2026–2030 strategy, the fund keeps its mandate of driving economic transformation while targeting assets of roughly 2 to 3 trillion USD by 2030 — implying continued growth from current levels. This growth is expected to come from investment returns, ongoing capital transfers from the state, and the monetisation of domestic projects as the non-oil economy expands.
A stronger focus on the local economy
The new strategy sets an allocation target of 80% domestic investments and 20% international for 2026–2030, shifting from a previous peak of about 70% domestic and 30% international. This reallocation redirects the equivalent of more than 90 billion USD toward the Saudi economy. The plan also introduces a private-sector support facility of around 70 billion SAR, using the fund's capital to attract private investment through co-investments, loan guarantees, and equity participation in priority sectors.
The fund has also outlined cumulative new project investments of around 3 trillion SAR over a 10-year horizon, including about 2 trillion SAR in new projects between 2026 and 2030 — a push that could shape jobs, housing, tourism, and services across the country in the years ahead.
