Saudi Trade Surplus Hits SAR 14.36 Billion in July

Saudi Arabia recorded a merchandise trade surplus of SAR 14.36 billion in July 2026,

The data showed that merchandise exports fell 17.2% year on year to SAR 84.38 billion. The decline reflected lower oil and non-oil exports alike. However, a parallel drop in imports partly offset the impact, allowing the Kingdom to maintain a surplus.

Why it matters

The trade balance is a key indicator of the Kingdom's economic health and its position in global markets. Maintaining a surplus, even as export values soften, points to continued strength in the balance between what the country sells abroad and what it buys.

For residents and businesses, movements in trade figures can influence broader economic activity, from local supply chains to investment sentiment. The numbers also reflect ongoing efforts to diversify the economy beyond oil under wider national development goals.

The figures remain preliminary and may be revised as more complete data becomes available.
