Saudi Trade Surplus Reaches SAR14.36 Billion in July

Saudi Arabia recorded a merchandise trade surplus of SAR14.36 billion in July 2026, as both exports and imports fell compared with the same month a year earlier.

Merchandise exports reached SAR84.38 billion during the month, a decline of 17.2% year-on-year. Imports totaled SAR70.02 billion, down 15.4% compared with July 2025.

The trade surplus itself narrowed by 25% against the level recorded in July 2025, reflecting the sharper drop in exports relative to imports.

Why it matters

The merchandise trade balance measures the gap between the value of goods sold abroad and the value of goods brought into the country. A surplus means the Kingdom continues to export more goods than it imports, which supports foreign revenue and the wider economy.

For residents and businesses alike, trade figures offer a snapshot of economic activity and the flow of goods in and out of the country. The year-on-year declines in both directions point to softer overall trade volumes during the month, though the balance remained in surplus.

The figures are preliminary and may be revised as complete data becomes available. Saudi Living will continue to follow the Kingdom's key economic indicators as they are updated.
