Saudi Stadiums Upgraded for 2027 and 2034 Events

Saudi Arabia is pressing ahead with major upgrades to its sports infrastructure across several cities, as the Kingdom prepares to host two of the biggest tournaments on the international calendar: the 2027 AFC Asian Cup and the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

In Riyadh, King Fahd Sports City is undergoing a comprehensive modernization to meet the standards required for future international sporting events. In Al-Khobar, the new Aramco Stadium is under construction with a capacity of 47,000 seats and is scheduled to host matches during the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

World Cup 2034 plans

The Kingdom's hosting plan for the 2034 FIFA World Cup includes 15 stadiums spread across five cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Al-Khobar, Abha, and NEOM. four existing stadiums will be upgraded, three are currently under construction, and eight new stadiums are planned.

For residents and sports fans across the country, the developments signal a growing calendar of international events in the years ahead, along with expanded facilities in multiple regions rather than a single hub.

These projects are construction and modernization works and are not currently presented as public tourist attractions. No public entrance fees, visitor booking procedures, operating hours, or official ticketing channels have been announced for the facility upgrades themselves. Saudi Living will share further details as they become available.
