Shura Island Opens New Luxury Red Sea Resorts

Shura Island has emerged as the centerpiece of Saudi Arabia's Red Sea destination, with a growing collection of ultra-luxury resorts drawing international attention as the country expands its high-end tourism offering.

Three resorts opened on the island in 2025: SLS The Red Sea, The Red Sea EDITION, and InterContinental The Red Sea. All three are now operating properties within the destination, joined by newly listed offerings such as Four Seasons Resort and Residences Red Sea at Shura Island, an eco-luxury resort set on a secluded beachfront site at the island's eastern tip.

Shura Island is planned to host 11 luxury resorts in total, alongside the Shura Links golf course, a marina, and a range of leisure facilities. It is connected to the mainland by a 3.3-kilometre crossing that includes a 1.2-kilometre bridge, making the destination accessible while preserving its natural surroundings.

Part of a wider destination

The Red Sea destination stretches across 200 kilometres and takes in an archipelago of 90 untouched islands, with Shura Island described as its heart. The development reflects Saudi Arabia's broader push to diversify its tourism economy and attract visitors seeking premium coastal experiences.

For residents and expats across the Kingdom, the openings add new domestic travel options within reach of both Riyadh and Jeddah, offering beachfront stays, water activities, and championship-level golf without leaving the country. As more resorts come online, Shura Island is set to become one of the leading leisure destinations on the Saudi coast.
