Smart Robots Aid Round-the-Clock Cleaning at Prophet's Mosque

Cleaning and sterilization teams at the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah are operating around the clock, using a mix of electric and manual equipment, environmentally friendly cleaning agents, and artificial-intelligence robots to keep the mosque and its surroundings spotless for visitors.

The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque oversees the program, which covers the mosque's roof, external courtyards, facilities, restrooms, and parking areas. The service is provided at no cost to visitors, with no application steps, validity periods, or charges of any kind.

In the courtyards, smart robots follow programmed routes and rely on cameras to detect obstacles, allowing them to move safely without obstructing pedestrians. The technology works alongside teams on the ground to maintain cleanliness through continuous daily operations.

Dedicated carpet care

A separate carpet-care operation handles 25,000 carpets using 430 machines across four daily sweeping rounds. More than 400 carpets are washed each day, while over 70 are inspected or treated as needed to ensure comfort and hygiene for worshippers.

The effort reflects the scale of daily care required at one of Islam's holiest sites, where large numbers of visitors arrive throughout the year. For residents and pilgrims alike, the round-the-clock cleaning program helps ensure a clean and welcoming environment at all times.
