Wael Al-Fayez Named First Kings League MENA MD

Kings League MENA has appointed Saudi executive Wael Al-Fayez as its managing director in September 2026, making him the first person to hold the position for the regional competition.

In his new role, Al-Fayez will oversee commercial strategy, major partnerships, regional operations, and business growth across the Middle East and North Africa. He brings more than 20 years of experience spanning sports, media, entertainment, and technology, and previously served as chief commercial officer of the Saudi Pro League.

The appointment comes as Kings League MENA Split 1 takes place in Riyadh from September 18 to October 30, 2026. The 2026 edition features an expanded 10-team format that includes three Saudi teams.

Why it matters

The leadership move signals a bigger push to grow the fast-format football competition across the region, with the Kingdom positioned at the center of its operations. For fans and residents in Riyadh, the expanded lineup and local team presence add to a growing calendar of sports events in the capital.

The competition blends traditional football with an entertainment-driven presentation aimed at younger audiences, and the addition of three Saudi teams gives home supporters more sides to follow throughout the season.
