Kings League MENA has appointed Saudi executive Wael Al-Fayez as its managing director, making him the first person to hold the position in the regional project. The appointment was announced in September 2026, ahead of the competition's expanded season in the capital.
In his new role, Al-Fayez oversees commercial strategy, key partnerships, and operational growth across the Middle East and North Africa. He brings a strong track record to the position, having previously served as chief commercial officer of the Saudi Pro League, along with more than 20 years of experience across sports, media, entertainment, and technology.
Split 1 heads to Riyadh
The appointment comes as Kings League MENA prepares for its expanded Split 1, scheduled in الرياض from 18 September to 30 October 2026. The season will feature 10 teams and be held at Cool Arena at Riyadh Boulevard.
Saudi Arabia will be represented by three teams: DR7, RA2, and Rising Peaks, giving local fans home sides to rally behind throughout the competition.
For the community, the move signals a growing regional investment in fast-paced, entertainment-driven football that has gained wide popularity worldwide. Hosting an expanded season in الرياض adds another major live sports option for residents and families looking for new experiences in the city. No official ticket prices or booking channels have been announced yet.
