Saudi sports and media executive Wael Al-Fayez has been appointed managing director of Kings League MENA, becoming the first person to hold the role. The appointment was made in September 2026 as the regional competition expanded its presence in the Kingdom.
In his new position, Al-Fayez oversees commercial strategy, key partnerships, regional operations, and growth across the Middle East and North Africa. He joined from the Saudi Pro League, where he served as chief commercial officer.
The appointment comes as Kings League MENA staged its expanded 10-team Split 1 in Riyadh, scheduled from 18 September to 30 October 2026. Matches were held at Cool Arena in Boulevard Riyadh City, one of the capital's growing hubs for live entertainment and sports.
Kings League is a fast-paced, seven-a-side football format that blends competitive matches with entertainment elements, and it has built a strong following among younger fans. Its growth in the region adds to Riyadh's expanding calendar of sporting and live events, giving residents and visitors more options to attend matches close to home.
The move reflects the continued investment in sports and entertainment across the Kingdom, with experienced local leadership now steering the league's commercial direction and regional expansion.
