Adwa Al-Arifi holds the position of Assistant Minister for Sport Affairs at Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Sport, a role she was appointed to in December 2022 and continued to hold in 2026. The appointment was made by the Minister of Sport, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal.
In this senior role, Al-Arifi oversees a broad portfolio of sports affairs. Her responsibilities cover international sporting events, stadiums, sports and youth affairs, as well as the branches of the Ministry of Sport across the country.
Why it matters
The appointment reflects the continued expansion of Saudi Arabia's sports sector and the growing role of women in leadership positions within government institutions. The Ministry of Sport has been central to organising major international competitions and developing sporting infrastructure across the Kingdom.
For residents and communities in cities such as Riyadh and Jeddah, the work of the Ministry touches everyday life — from the venues that host events to the youth programmes that encourage participation in sport. Leadership at this level helps shape how these facilities and initiatives are delivered nationwide.
The role does not involve any public service fee, application procedure, or validity period, as it is a ministerial appointment.
