Bandar bin Ibrahim AlKhorayef has been named minister of state and a member of the Council of Ministers in Saudi Arabia, following a royal order issued in July 2026 that relieved him of his post as minister of industry and mineral resources.
The same royal order assigned AlKhorayef acting responsibility for overseeing the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), following the dismissal of its previous governor, Ahmed Al-Ohali.
As part of the reshuffle, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman now holds the combined portfolios of minister of energy and minister of industry and mineral resources, taking over the latter role from AlKhorayef while retaining his energy responsibilities.
Why it matters
The position of minister of state and Council of Ministers member is a cabinet-level role. It is set by royal decree and remains in force until amended by a new royal order.
This appointment does not involve any citizen- or resident-facing procedures, service fees in Saudi Riyal, online portal steps, or validity periods. There are no related workflows on platforms such as Absher, Muqeem, Qiwa, Najiz, Nafath, or Tawakkalna, as the change concerns senior government structure rather than public transactions.
