A royal order issued in July 2026 appointed Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, while he continues to serve as Minister of Energy. With the new assignment, he now oversees both ministries at the same time.
The order also relieved Bandar Al-Khorayef of his post as Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources and appointed him Minister of State. In his new role, he will oversee the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) and remain a member of the Council of Ministers.
The change brings three major portfolios — energy, industry, and mineral resources — under a single minister. Officials link the move to the Kingdom's economic diversification drive and the goals of رؤية السعودية 2030, which aims to expand industrial output and develop the mining sector as new pillars of growth alongside energy.
What it means for the community
For residents and expatriates, the reshuffle is an administrative and policy decision at the ministerial level. As of the latest available information, no new fees, ريال سعودي prices, validity periods, or procedural changes have been tied to the appointment on government platforms such as أبشر, مقيم, قوى, ناجز, نفاذ, or توكلنا.
