AMD, HUMAIN Plan $10B AI Infrastructure in Saudi Arabia

Chipmaker AMD and Saudi artificial intelligence company HUMAIN have unveiled a multi-year plan to invest up to USD 10 billion in AI infrastructure spanning Saudi Arabia and the United States. The collaboration targets roughly 500 megawatts (MW) of AI compute capacity over about five years, with the first and primary deployments taking place inside the Kingdom.

HUMAIN, a Saudi AI firm backed by the Public Investment Fund, will build the initial infrastructure locally before expanding to the United States and other regions. The company offers full-stack AI solutions — including data centers, a software stack, and a developer platform — hosted in the Kingdom and serving both regional and international customers.

The Saudi data centers will run on AMD Instinct MI-series GPUs alongside related AMD AI hardware and software, with networking based on Cisco Silicon One technology integrated into HUMAIN's facilities. Early phases point to an initial rollout of around 50 MW by late 2025, scaling to multi-exaflop capacity in early 2026. A broader joint effort with AMD, HUMAIN, and Cisco outlines an expanded goal of up to 1 gigawatt (GW) of AI infrastructure in Saudi Arabia by 2030, with a 100 MW phase expected online around 2026.

Why it matters

The plan reflects growing momentum to position Saudi Arabia as a regional hub for advanced computing and digital services, in line with national goals to diversify the economy. For residents, businesses, and developers, larger local AI capacity can mean faster access to advanced computing power and new opportunities in technology and data-driven sectors.

The projects also emphasize sustainable energy, with data centers designed to draw on low-carbon or renewable power options available under Saudi energy policies. Plans include large-scale data centers, sustainable power systems, and global fiber-optic links connecting the Kingdom with the United States and other regions. No specific electricity pricing or power purchase figures were disclosed.
