A major Brazilian meat exporter has expanded its supply agreement with Saudi Arabia's agricultural investment company to include beef and to significantly raise poultry volumes, in a move framed around strengthening the Kingdom's food security.
Under the revised arrangement, the exporter, MBRF, will supply beef to Saudi Arabia at a ceiling of up to 270,000 tonnes The deal also raises poultry supply to up to 600,000 tonnes broadening a partnership that previously focused on poultry alone.
The updated terms come as an addendum to a contract first signed in May 2024 with SALIC, the Saudi agricultural and livestock investment company. The agreement is structured as a food security supply arrangement designed to secure reliable volumes of protein for the Saudi market.
Why it matters for residents
Food security has been a central priority for the Kingdom, and long-term supply agreements like this one aim to keep essential proteins flowing steadily to consumers across cities including Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. Larger contracted volumes can help support consistent availability of beef and poultry in the local market.
On the regulatory side, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority maintains an updated list of approved Brazilian establishments cleared to export bovine meat to the Kingdom, with the most recent published list dated 12/04/2026. These approvals form part of the import controls that govern which facilities can ship meat products into Saudi Arabia.
No changes to tariffs, fees, validity periods or application procedures were announced as part of this expanded agreement.
