Chevrolet Recall: 27,360 Cars in Saudi Over Airbag Risk

The Saudi Ministry of Commerce has launched a recall campaign covering 27,360 Chevrolet vehicles across the Kingdom due to a defect in the driver-side airbag. The campaign, handled through the Ministry's Products Recall Center via the Recalls.sa platform, affects three models: the Trax, Cruze and Aveo.

the driver-side airbag inflator may burst during a crash and eject sharp metal fragments inside the cabin, creating a risk of serious injury or death. The fault covers the Trax from model years 2010 to 2017, the Cruze from 2012 to 2018, and the Aveo from 2010 to 2017.

How to check if your car is affected

Owners can confirm whether their vehicle is included by entering the VIN or chassis number on the Recalls.sa platform. The required repair is carried out free of charge. For servicing, owners have been directed to General Motors, Aljomaih Automotive Company, and Universal Motors Agencies.

The recall notice remains in effect until each affected vehicle is repaired and cleared, with no fixed expiry date announced. It forms part of a wider 2026 safety campaign by the Ministry of Commerce and applies only to the listed Chevrolet models and model years in Saudi Arabia.

Given the potential danger, owners of these models are encouraged to verify their status promptly and arrange the free repair through the approved service channels to keep themselves and their passengers safe.
