Dammam Sports City: SR1 Billion Sports Project Advances

Authorities are moving ahead with preparations for a new private-sector sports development in the Eastern Province, known as Dammam Sports City, an investment valued at SAR 1,000,000,000 (about $267 million). The core agreement for the project was signed during the Sports Investment Forum 2026 in الرياض.

The agreement brought together the CEO of the Sharqia (Eastern Province) Development Authority, Talal bin Nabeel Al-Maghlouth; the CEO of the Sports Investment Forum, Ibrahim Al-Bakri; the CEO of Dammam Valley Co., Abdulaziz Al-Mutlaq; and a representative of وزارة الاستثمار, Basim Ibrahim.

Officials describe the project as private-sector led. Dammam Valley Co. acts as the key private developer and operator, while the Sharqia Development Authority and وزارة الاستثمار provide public-side support and facilitation. The project is being integrated into the Eastern Province's regional development strategy.

Part of a wider pipeline

Dammam Sports City forms part of a national sports investment pipeline approaching SR18 billion, with the Eastern Province sports city cited as one of the main projects valued at up to SR1 billion. Preparatory steps so far include finalizing the main investment and development agreements at the forum and structuring the project as a private-sector opportunity under the sports sector expansion plans.

Separately, an additional SR1 billion in private investment has been added to the Arts District of the Sports Boulevard project in الرياض through a closed-ended real estate investment fund, raising the total fund size to SR2 billion. That fund is managed by Albilad Capital, with Ajdan Real Estate Development Co. as primary developer, covering mixed-use residential, retail, office, and entertainment spaces across around 20,000 square meters.

For residents in the Eastern Province, the developments signal expanding sports, leisure, and entertainment facilities that could bring new venues and job opportunities as the projects progress.
