A Canadian-bred Super White mottled gyrfalcon chick sold for SR 1,300,000 at the International Falcon Breeders Auction 2026, the highest price of this year's edition and the second-highest in the auction's history. The event runs in Malham, north of Riyadh, from 5 August to 25 August 2026.
Bidding for the record chick opened at SR 200,000 and climbed to SR 1,300,000. A second falcon from the same Canadian farm, a pure gyrfalcon chick, opened at SR 40,000 and sold for SR 150,000. Together, the two birds fetched SR 1,450,000. The all-time auction record remains SR 1,750,000, set in 2021 for an ultra-white three-quarter pure gyrfalcon.
The 2026 edition has drawn broader European participation, with breeders from France, Austria, Britain, Germany, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, and Ireland. Some farms increased their entries, including roughly 100 falcons from one Austrian farm. On the sixth night, five falcons from European farms in Germany, Slovenia, Romania, and Ireland sold for a combined SR 348,000. In the early days, individual gyrfalcons reached around SR 380,000, and cumulative sales over the first four days topped SR 1 million.
The auction is organized by the Saudi Falcons Club / National Center for Falcons and operates as a specialized on-site venue in Malham, where registration and bidding are managed directly by the organizing body. Last year's 2025 edition recorded sales exceeding SR 13 million, a 23% increase over 2024, with 1,103 falcons sold by 67 farms from 23 countries, including 19 Saudi farms.
For residents and visitors, the auction offers a window into a heritage practice that has grown into an international marketplace, drawing breeders and buyers from across the world to the Kingdom each August.
