Falcon Auction in Malham: 6 Falcons Sell for SAR 312,000

The International Falcon Breeders Auction 2026 continued in Malham, north of Riyadh, where six falcons from five European breeding farms were sold on the eighth night for a combined SAR 312,000. The event runs at the National Center for Falcons headquarters from 5 to 25 August 2026, typically operating daily from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

The highest price on the eighth night reached SAR 70,000 for a falcon presented by a Ukrainian breeding farm. Two falcons offered by an Austrian breeding farm were sold separately for a combined SAR 82,000, reflecting steady demand from buyers across the auction's nightly sessions.

Organized by the National Center for Falcons, an entity linked to the Saudi Falcons Club, the auction functions as a regulated commercial platform for domestic and international breeding farms. International participation is limited to pre-registered farms approved by the center, with falcons shipped into Saudi Arabia under regulated live animal import procedures that include health checks and permits coordinated through relevant government channels before display in Malham.

Bidding is conducted live on-site and broadcast through the Saudi Falcons Club's official media channels, with bids placed in Saudi riyals and final prices settled through authorized payment channels. The auction is open to all ages as a public event in Riyadh, with attendance managed through official platforms of the Saudi Falcons Club and the National Center for Falcons.

Over recent years, the auction has grown into a specialized market for high-value captive-bred falcons, with prices in 2026 ranging from tens of thousands of riyals up to around SAR 1.3 million for top-tier gyrfalcons. For residents and visitors interested in falconry heritage, the evening sessions offer a close look at one of the Kingdom's most distinctive cultural traditions.
