Final Exit Visa in Saudi Arabia: Process & Checklist

Leaving Saudi Arabia for good — whether at the end of a job, after retirement, or when a family relocates — usually means applying for a final exit visa. In 2026 the whole process is electronic, so there is no paper stamp at the airport and the steps are handled online. Still, a small mistake in timing or Iqama validity can delay your departure. This guide from سعودي ليفنج walks you through how the final exit visa works, which portal to use, and the checks to make before you press submit.

What a final exit visa is

A final exit visa is the official permission for an expatriate resident (or dependent) to leave the Kingdom permanently, closing out their residency. It is different from an exit/re-entry visa, which is for temporary travel with a plan to return. Once you depart on a final exit, your Iqama is cancelled.

Key points for 2026:

  • Final exit visas are issued electronically only, for both workers and their dependents.
  • There is no airport stamping; the record is fully digital.
  • The exit authorisation itself carries no government fee (SAR 0), but a platform/service fee of SAR 70 per final exit transaction applies from January 2025 onward, paid via SADAD or electronic payment.

Which portal issues it

The current official channels are أبشر and مقيم. The right one depends on who is applying:

  • أبشر (Absher Individuals): heads of household use this for dependents, and workers in limited cases can initiate their own request under Passport Services → Visa / Final Exit.
  • أبشر Business: employers or heads of household issue final exit for employees and dependents under Passports → Exit/Re-Entry or Final Exit.
  • مقيم (establishment portal): employers issue final exit for employees. The workflow is: log in → e-transactions → electronic final exit visa → issue final exit visa → confirm → print confirmation.
  • قوى: used first for employment contract termination and labour-law steps. Employers begin the contract termination / final exit workflow here, then issue the actual visa in أبشر Business or مقيم.

Other platforms such as ناجز, بلدي, توكلنا and Etimad are not used to issue final exit visas. نفاذ may appear only as an identity-verification layer when logging into government portals.

Iqama validity: the rule that trips people up

The Jawazat validity rule is still in force in 2026 and decides whether you can even apply:

  • Your Iqama must have at least 30 days of validity remaining to issue a final exit visa.
  • If your Iqama has more than 30 but less than 60 days left, the final exit visa validity equals the remaining Iqama validity.
  • If your Iqama has 60 days or more remaining, the final exit visa is valid for 60 days from issuance.
  • If your Iqama has less than 30 days left, you must renew it first before applying.

Because of this, always confirm your Iqama expiry date before starting — renewing at the last minute can push back your travel plans.

The 60-day validity window

A final exit visa is valid for 60 days from the date of issuance, and you must depart within that window. If you do not leave in time, the visa expires and you would need to sort out your status before travelling — potentially facing penalties for overstaying. Plan your ticket and packing around the issuance date, not the day you applied.

Before you apply: a quick checklist

  • Check Iqama validity (at least 30 days remaining; renew if not).
  • Settle any outstanding traffic fines, loans, or financial obligations.
  • Confirm there are no travel bans or legal cases recorded against you.
  • For employees: make sure the employer has completed contract termination in قوى.
  • Have the SAR 70 service fee ready via SADAD or electronic payment.
  • Book flights only after the visa is issued, keeping the 60-day limit in mind.

Final tips

If you are a dependent, coordinate with the head of household who initiates the request. If you are an employee, stay in touch with your employer, since much of the workflow starts on their side in قوى and مقيم. Always verify the latest fees and requirements on the relevant official Saudi government portal before travelling, as procedures can be updated. A little planning around your Iqama date and the 60-day window makes for a smooth, stress-free departure.
