Saudi Arabia's national hobbies platform, Hawi, has surpassed 111,000 registered members and more than 3,500 licensed hobby clubs across the Kingdom as of August 2026, marking a major milestone in organized community leisure. The platform operates under the Quality of Life Program to support the establishment and licensing of clubs in all regions.
Hawi currently supports more than 214 classified hobbies spanning cultural, artistic, sports, tourism, gaming, and creative fields. Popular clubs include chess and mind games, music and performing arts, visual arts, filmmaking, creative writing, various sports and outdoor pursuits, and tourism and exploration activities.
The growth has been steady. By 2024–2025, the platform recorded more than 1,832 registered clubs and around 78,991 members, with clubs organizing over 900 events and activities that year. Those figures have since more than doubled in members and nearly doubled in clubs, with the sector now targeting roughly 6,000 hobby clubs by 2030.
How it works
Hawi runs as an online platform at hawi.sa, where users can register clubs, apply for licenses, manage members and activities, and browse or join existing clubs. Membership and club registration are free of charge, with no mandatory fees reported for creating a club or joining as a member. Club status remains valid as long as clubs stay active and comply with the platform's guidelines.
For residents and expats across at least 35 to 50 cities and provinces, Hawi offers a straightforward, no-cost way to find like-minded communities, pursue hobbies, and take part in hundreds of events held nationwide each year — a practical benefit for anyone looking to build local connections and enrich daily life in Saudi Arabia.
