Jeddah Airport Hits 53.4M Passengers in 2025

King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah recorded strong passenger growth in 2025, handling 53.4 million passengers across 310,000 flights and processing 60.4 million bags. The figures represent roughly 12% growth compared with 2024, reinforcing the airport's role as a major regional gateway.

During 2025 the airport accounted for around 38% of total passenger traffic across Saudi airports, with a daily average of about 146,000 passengers and capacity utilization near 107%. That volume placed it in the global "Mega Airport" category and secured 3rd place worldwide among airports handling 50–60 million passengers annually in the Skytrax 2026 rankings.

The momentum carried into the new year. In January 2026, the airport served around 5.45 million passengers on 29,200 flights and processed 6.6 million bags, growth of roughly 7–11% versus January 2025. In the week of 11–17 January 2026 it welcomed about 1.28 million passengers, and on 17 January 2026 it recorded its highest operational day with nearly 195,000 passengers and 1,089 flights.

For the first quarter of 2026, the airport handled 14.8 million passengers, up about 2.8% year-on-year, with more than 83,000 flights (around 7.2% growth) and 17.8 million bags (around 3.7% growth).

Why it matters

The growth is supported by expanded regional and international connectivity and increased capacity, including the handling of Hajj and Umrah traffic. Jeddah Airports Company has set a target of more than 90 million passengers annually by 2030, alongside long-term plans to accommodate a greater number of Umrah visitors. For residents and travelers in Jeddah, this points to more flight options and a busier, higher-capacity hub in the years ahead.
