Jeddah Islamic Port Posts Record July Container Volume

Jeddah Islamic Port recorded a new July container throughput record, handling 540,107 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) during the month, in a fresh sign of the port's growing role in regional trade and logistics.

the volume handled at Jeddah included 206,927 imported containers, 155,270 exported containers, 138,615 transshipment containers, and 39,295 transit containers, reflecting a diverse mix of trade movements passing through the facility.

Across the wider network, Saudi ports handled 597,737 TEUs and around 8.49 million tonnes of cargo during July, underlining the scale of maritime activity supporting the Kingdom's supply chains.

It is worth noting that available public reporting on the July record is not fully consistent. While one set of figures cites 540,107 TEUs for Jeddah Islamic Port, a separate report lists a different July record of 491,197 TEUs. Both figures have appeared for the same period, and the exact record remains unclear pending confirmed data.

Why it matters

As one of the Kingdom's largest gateways, Jeddah Islamic Port is central to the flow of goods reaching residents and businesses in Jeddah and beyond. Higher throughput generally points to stronger trade activity and improved handling capacity, which can support faster movement of imported products and greater export opportunities. For the community, stronger port performance is closely tied to reliable supply of everyday goods and the continued growth of the logistics sector.
