Saudi authorities have announced the recall of 27,360 Chevrolet vehicles across the Kingdom due to a defect in the driver-side airbag inflator that could pose a serious safety risk to drivers.
The recall covers three popular models: the Chevrolet Trax (model years 2010–2017), the Chevrolet Cruze (2012–2018), and the Chevrolet Aveo (2010–2017). Owners of these vehicles are urged to verify whether their cars are affected.
What is the defect?
the driver-side airbag inflator may eject sharp metal fragments during a crash. This can cause serious injury or even death to the driver, making it a significant safety concern that requires prompt attention.
Owners can check whether their vehicle is included in the recall by entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the Recalls.sa platform. The VIN check is the fastest way to confirm if a specific car needs to be repaired.
How to get the repair
Repairs are provided free of charge, with no fee for the recall work itself. Affected vehicle owners can have the fix carried out through General Motors, Aljomaih Automotive Company, or Universal Motors Agencies.
Given the nature of the airbag defect and the potential for serious harm, drivers of the affected Trax, Cruze, and Aveo models are advised to check their VIN and schedule the free repair as soon as possible to ensure their safety and that of their passengers.
