KAUST Holds First Cattery Open Day on Sept 11

The KAUST Animal Welfare Club will host its first-ever Cattery Open Day on Friday, September 11, 2026, starting at 5:00 p.m. The event takes place at the Cattery near the Transportation Building, Gate 3, KAUST, and invites families and animal lovers to spend an evening with cats and kittens.

Entry costs 50 SAR with both cash and card accepted at the gate. Each ticket includes a free BBQ plate and a soft drink, making the visit an easy family outing for the community.

Activities and Highlights

Visitors will be able to meet and spend time with the resident cats and kittens, enjoy face painting, snap photos at a dedicated cat photo booth, and try their hand at making cat toys. Live DJ music will keep the atmosphere lively throughout the evening, while younger guests can take part in a junior animal welfare explorer passport activity designed just for kids.

To make attendance simple, a free shuttle will run every 10 minutes between the Tamimi Supermarket parking lot and the Cattery. The shuttle operates from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. heading to the Cattery, and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. returning to the Tamimi parking lot.

For those interested in ongoing pet care, the on-site facility near Gate 3 is open Saturday to Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and is closed on Fridays. Questions about the Open Day can be directed to animalwelfarekclub@gmail.com. The event supports animal welfare efforts within the community and offers a friendly, hands-on way to learn about caring for cats.
