New Board Approved for Saudi Sport Culture Federation

Saudi Sports Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal has approved the formation of the new Board of Directors of the Saudi Arabian Sport Culture Federation (SSCF) for the 2025–2028 term, the federation confirmed. The board is headed by Dr. Sulaiman bin Omar Al-Jaloud as president.

Named members of the new board include Mohammed bin Saad Al-Dossary, Asaad Arefah, Nawal Abdullah Al-Issa, Abdulazim Saud Al-Otaibi, Waad Abdullah Al-Fawaz, and Mohammed Saleh Al-Sulaiman.

The SSCF was originally established during the 2021–2024 electoral cycle for Saudi sports federations, with its creation approved on 10/11/1442H (23 May 2021). As a national federation, it focuses on sports culture, raising awareness of the importance of sport, and promoting the humanitarian values associated with athletic activity.

New governance framework

The approval comes as Saudi sports federations move under a new regulatory structure. Cabinet Decision No. 414 of 1447H (25 November 2025) introduced a new Sports Law that overhauls sports regulation and supersedes the previous Statute of Sports Federations and the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee. The law was published in the Official Gazette in December 2025 and entered into force on 11 June 2026, 180 days after publication.

Under the new law, non-commercial sports entities must have at minimum a General Assembly, a Board of Directors with at least three members, and a Secretariat or executive management team. Applications to incorporate a sports entity are submitted to the Ministry of Sport together with the entity's by-laws, and each body is recorded in a new National Register for Sports. Official information on the Ministry and its services is available through the national government portal.
