Next Gen Games Camp Trains Saudi Youth in Riyadh

A summer camp in Riyadh gave young Saudis a hands-on introduction to the world of game development, guiding participants from playing games to building their own. Held at King Salman Science Oasis under the theme "From Player to Game Maker," the program welcomed students aged 10 to 17 across two age tracks.

The camp was organized in partnership between Savvy Games Group and King Salman Science Oasis. It offered a junior track for ages 10 to 13 and a senior track for ages 14 to 17, delivered as a 20-hour interactive program. Separate morning and evening sessions were arranged for male and female students.

Importantly, no prior experience in game design or coding was required to join. Participants explored game-design fundamentals, creative thinking, teamwork and problem-solving, then applied what they learned by creating their own game prototypes. The camp culminated in a friendly competition, with teams vying for the "Best Game" title.

To take part, students needed approval from a parent or guardian, along with active participation, teamwork and full attendance throughout the program.

Programs like this reflect a growing focus on building local talent in the fast-expanding gaming and interactive-media sector. By introducing young residents to design and technical skills early on, the camp aims to nurture a new generation of Saudi creators who can shape the future of the industry.

The reported 2026 edition of the camp has concluded, and no new intake dates or registration window have been announced for future rounds.
