Nokia Opens Riyadh R&D Center for AI Networks

Nokia has opened its first research and development center in Riyadh in 2026, dedicated to AI-powered network automation and orchestration software. The new facility will develop solutions for customers in Saudi Arabia and global markets.

The center focuses on several key work areas, including Service Management and Orchestration (SMO), Self-Organizing Networks (SON), Autopilot, and rApps. These technologies are designed to make networks self-configure, self-heal, optimize their performance, and reduce energy consumption.

Beyond current network needs, the center will also carry out research tied to AI-native 6G, positioning Riyadh as a hub for next-generation connectivity work. A core part of the mission is developing Saudi talent, building local expertise in one of the most advanced fields in telecommunications.

For the community, the move signals continued investment in Saudi Arabia's technology sector and the growth of high-skill jobs in the Kingdom.
