The Northern Borders governorate headquarters in Arar hosted a ceremony honoring the winning teams of the “Inbathon Emirate of Northern Borders Region for Digital Innovation” hackathon, under the patronage of Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Northern Borders Region.
The hackathon drew more than 90 competitors who presented 35 projects, including seven media projects, across three main tracks: early monitoring of misleading information related to government services and speeding up official response; the use of data and artificial intelligence to improve quality of life in the region; and building an easier, more effective beneficiary journey by integrating scattered government services into a single digital experience.
Competition events were held at the Ministry of Interior Club in Arar, with a jury phase evaluating 29 innovations to select the top teams. First place went to Team “Miqdam” for a proactive intelligence platform for early monitoring and supporting government response, winning 50,000 SAR. Team “Afaq” took second place with “Baseera,” an AI platform to support decision-making, anticipate needs, and improve quality of life, earning 30,000 SAR. Team “Hay Aynak” placed third for a smart digital platform turning dispersed government services into one tailored beneficiary journey, receiving 20,000 SAR.
The initiative aimed to support innovation and encourage developers, programmers, data and AI specialists, researchers, and university students to develop practical solutions for local challenges. Bringing together young talent around government-service and quality-of-life themes, the hackathon reflects wider efforts to strengthen the digital economy and local skills in the Northern Borders Region, offering residents better and more integrated services in the years ahead.
