Petro Rabigh Names Hassan Al Yami as New CEO

Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Co. (Petro Rabigh) has appointed Hassan bin Hamad Al Yami as its new president and chief executive officer, succeeding Othman bin Ali Al Ghamdi. The change was disclosed through the Saudi stock exchange (Tadawul) disclosure system, the official channel for governance announcements by listed companies.

The board resolution to appoint Al Yami was issued on 23 August 2026, with his appointment taking effect on 1 September 2026. Al Ghamdi's resignation from the role, for personal reasons, is effective 31 August 2026, and he remains a member of the company's board of directors.

Al Yami brings more than 30 years of experience in the refining and petrochemical sector. He previously served as vice president of Saudi Aramco's Ras Tanura refinery, and held vice president roles at several Saudi Aramco subsidiaries inside and outside Saudi Arabia. As of late August 2026, he is described as CEO of Petro Rabigh and a vice president at Saudi Aramco, with a background in mechanical engineering and executive studies at a US business school.

Why it matters

Petro Rabigh is one of the Kingdom's major integrated refining and petrochemical operations, and leadership transitions at listed Saudi joint-stock companies are closely watched by investors and the wider business community. This is an internal corporate and board-governance decision; no regulatory fees or additional processes are involved.

The company confirmed the continuity of its governance by retaining the outgoing chief executive on its board, signalling a managed handover as the new leadership takes charge from the start of September.
