Riyadh Region Municipality has launched six community sports tournaments across 11 locations in central Riyadh throughout September 2026, aiming to boost physical activity and neighborhood participation for residents of all ages.
The six tournaments cover a wide range of interests: a neighborhood football league for residential teams, a volunteer football league for volunteer teams, a basketball tournament, a volleyball tournament, a Baloot card game tournament, and a dominoes tournament. Matches and events are scheduled on evenings and weekends to make it easier for neighborhoods to take part.
Alongside the competitions, more than 15 accompanying activities are being organized, including recreational, educational, and health-awareness events. Around 40 entities from the government, private, and non-profit sectors, as well as volunteer teams, are taking part in organizing and supporting the tournaments and side activities.
Why it matters
The initiative is designed to activate public spaces, enhance quality of life, and turn community centers and neighborhood venues into everyday lifestyle hubs for residents in the heart of the capital. Participation is community-focused and open to residents, with no registration fees or spectator ticket prices stated in the available information.
The tournaments are distributed across 11 sites within the central Riyadh sector, described collectively as locations in the heart of the capital. Registration and further details are handled through Riyadh Region Municipality communication channels and local organizing committees. The events form part of the municipality's 2026 quality-of-life and community engagement programs, continuing its wider effort to expand sports and recreational offerings across the capital's neighborhoods.
