Riyadh Launches Six Community Sports Tournaments

Central Riyadh will host six community sports tournaments across 11 locations throughout September 2026, in an initiative organized by the central sector of Riyadh Municipality to encourage physical activity and bring residents together.

The lineup covers a neighborhood football league (فرق الأحياء) and a volunteer football league (الفرق التطوعية), alongside basketball, volleyball, baloot, and dominoes. The tournaments run on a continuous schedule for the full month within public spaces and community centers in the central part of the city.

Organizers say the aim is to promote physical activity for residents of different age groups, strengthen community interaction, and activate public spaces so that community centers function as everyday lifestyle hubs. The events are open to residents as community gatherings.

The program is not limited to sport. More than 15 accompanying activities are planned, spanning recreational, educational, and health-awareness events, with participation from about 40 entities drawn from the public, private, and non-profit sectors, as well as volunteer teams.

Official information specifies 11 sites in the central sector, though a detailed venue list has not been publicly released. No registration fees or ticket prices have been announced, and organizational details such as sign-up steps are expected to be handled through the municipality's own channels and on-site coordination. The tournaments and accompanying events are limited to September 2026, with no extension into later months announced.
