Saudi Arabia: 144 Athletes for Asian Games 2026

Saudi Arabia will be represented by 144 athletes competing across 19 sporting disciplines at the 20th Asian Games, to be hosted in Aichi Prefecture and the city of Nagoya, Japan, from 19 September to 4 October 2026.

The Saudi program spans a wide range of sports, including athletics, 5×5 basketball, boxing, equestrian, esports, fencing, football, jiu-jitsu, judo, karate, mixed martial arts, padel, shooting, squash, swimming, taekwondo, tennis, weightlifting and wrestling.

This marks the Kingdom's 12th appearance at the Asian Games, following its debut in Bangkok in 1978. Ahead of the competition, Saudi teams are set to hold a pre-Games training camp in Fuji, Japan, running roughly from 29 August to 3 October 2026 and covering a selection of the disciplines on the program.

Priority sports for medals

The Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee has identified 11 priority sports as its main medal targets: athletics, judo, taekwondo, karate, jiu-jitsu, swimming, weightlifting, shooting, equestrian, fencing and wrestling.

The participation reflects the Kingdom's continued investment in sport and its ambition to raise the level of Saudi athletes on the continental stage. For the local community, the diverse lineup — from traditional Olympic events to esports and padel — highlights the growing breadth of sporting activity across the country and the opportunities being created for athletes in a wide array of disciplines.
