Saudi Arabia Confirmed to Host 2034 FIFA World Cup

Saudi Arabia has been officially confirmed as the sole host of the 2034 FIFA World Cup, following ratification of the decision at an Extraordinary Congress on 11 December 2024. The tournament will be staged entirely within the Kingdom.

The 2034 edition will feature 48 national teams, making Saudi Arabia the first country to host the expanded 48-team format on its own. The official program is being managed through the Saudi 2034 initiative and the World Cup 2034 Authority, with details published on their dedicated platforms.

Host cities and stadiums

The current hosting plan identifies five host cities — الرياض, جدة, Al Khobar, Abha and نيوم — with a total of 15 stadiums. الرياض will host the most venues with 8 stadiums, followed by جدة with 4, while Al Khobar, Abha and نيوم will each have one.

Among the flagship venues is Riyadh's new King Salman International Stadium, with a capacity of about 92,760, which is planned to host the opening and final matches. Other Riyadh venues include King Fahd Sports City Stadium (about 70,200), Prince Faisal bin Fahad Sports City Stadium, King Saud University Stadium, South Riyadh Stadium, Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, New Murabba Stadium and ROSHN Stadium.

In جدة, planned stadiums include King Abdullah Sports City Stadium (about 62,345), Qiddiya Coast Stadium, Jeddah Central Development Stadium and King Abdullah Economic City Stadium. Al Khobar will host Aramco Stadium, نيوم will host NEOM Stadium, and Abha will feature a new stadium.

For residents and expats across the Kingdom, the event marks a major milestone that is expected to bring new infrastructure, jobs, tourism and long-term investment to communities in the years leading up to the tournament.
