Saudi Arabia is pressing ahead with preparations for the 2034 FIFA World Cup, with stadium construction and infrastructure work advancing across the country. The tournament plan spans 15 stadiums in five cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Al-Khobar, Abha, and NEOM.
The programme includes 11 newly built stadiums and four upgraded existing venues. Riyadh is set to host eight stadiums, Jeddah four, and one each in Al-Khobar, Abha, and NEOM. Alongside the venues, roughly 132 to 134 training sites are planned across additional cities to support competing teams.
Key venues in progress
Construction is advancing on the 47,000-seat Aramco Stadium in Al-Khobar, with completion scheduled for late 2026 and opening activity planned for January 2027. In Riyadh, the King Salman International Stadium in the north of the capital is planned to exceed 92,000 seats and is set to host the tournament's opening match and final, with completion targeted for 2029.
The Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium in Qiddiya City is also under construction, with a mechanical-services contract valued at SAR 829 million running from September 2026 until May 2030. Development is under way at King Fahd Sports City and Prince Faisal bin Fahd Sports City in Riyadh, while the King Khalid University Stadium in Abha is planned for a temporary expansion to more than 45,000 spectators during the tournament. Jeddah Central Stadium, the New Murabba Stadium, and further venues remain in development or planning.
For residents and expats following the build-up, one point is important: no official ticket prices, stadium admission fees, tournament visa fees, or venue operating prices have been announced for the 2034 World Cup. The stadium and infrastructure figures do not set any nationwide fee schedule or public application process, and no government platform procedure is required for general planning information at this stage.
