Saudi Arabia Draws 26% of MENA Venture Investors in 2026

Saudi Arabia accounted for 26% of all participating venture investors across the Middle East and North Africa in the first half of 2026 — the largest single share of any country in the region,

Out of 243 active investors recorded across the MENA venture market in the period, roughly 63 were based in the Kingdom. Startups in Saudi Arabia raised about SAR 821 million (USD 219 million) across 72 disclosed deals, making up 34% of the region's total deal count and confirming the Kingdom's position as one of MENA's most active markets by activity.

By funding volume, Saudi Arabia ranked second in the region with a 16% share, behind the United Arab Emirates and ahead of Egypt. Total venture funding in the Kingdom fell about 74% year-on-year, easing back from a record level set in the first half of 2025.

A more locally driven market

The most notable shift was structural rather than a simple slowdown. Domestic Saudi investors supplied roughly 74–81% of the venture funding deployed in the Kingdom and across MENA, while the share from international investors dropped to around 13–19%. Between 59% and 74% of active investors in Saudi Arabia were locally based, with regional peers near 25% and international participants around 16%.

Fintech led the way, capturing about 67% of Saudi venture funding — a sharp rise from roughly 28% a year earlier. Figures from وزارة الاستثمار for the period show the Kingdom's ecosystem remaining among the busiest in the region by deal count even as overall funding cooled.

For residents, entrepreneurs and job seekers, the trend points to a maturing local investment base: smaller cheques, more homegrown capital, and a steady pipeline of deals that continue to support new companies and jobs across الرياض, جدة and beyond.
