Saudi Arabia is expanding technical and vocational training in advanced manufacturing, robotics and renewable energy engineering to prepare Saudi nationals for a new generation of industrial jobs. The Ministry of Education is working with industrial companies on specialized programs, while the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) revises curricula to embed environmental sustainability and renewable energy skills across technical tracks, with updates continuing through 2025.
A national push led by TVTC and EnergyTech includes a new training institute in western Saudi Arabia offering programs in sustainable development, solar and renewable energy, petrochemicals and artificial intelligence. Intensive vocational courses in renewable energy aim to train more than 100,000 Saudi technicians and specialists by 2030, supporting the national goal of generating 50% of electricity from renewables by that year.
These renewable energy programs are short, high-intensity courses running from three months to one year, covering practical skills such as solar panel installation, wind turbine maintenance, energy storage operation and green hydrogen plant operations. In cooperation with the Human Resources Development Fund, NEOM Green Hydrogen Company runs a two-year technician program in renewable energy and green hydrogen for technical college and science graduates, plus a one-year program for engineering graduates, based at EWA in Rabigh.
More institutes and clearer registration
As of 2026, the Kingdom has launched 10 new technical institutes specialized in artificial intelligence, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing and cybersecurity, offering around 50,000 training opportunities annually under the national "Skills 2026" initiative supported by the Human Resources Development Fund. Main admission periods typically fall in January and July, with registration for 2026 programs starting 1 February 2026 via the Qiwa platform.
For those considering evening study, TVTC evening diploma tracks are priced at 400 SAR and evening bachelor's degree tracks at 550 SAR across manufacturing and energy-related specializations. The expansion offers residents and Saudi trainees a practical route into fast-growing sectors tied to the country's clean-energy targets.
