Saudi Renewable Pipeline Hits 63.8 GW Across 53 Projects

Saudi Arabia's renewable-energy development has reached a reported pipeline of 63.8 gigawatts spread across 53 projects, reflecting the Kingdom's continued push to expand clean-power capacity. The figure represents projects under development or planned, rather than total operating generation.

Reported operating renewable capacity for 2026 stands at 19.3 gigawatts. Eight projects totaling 7.7 gigawatts carry a planned 2026 commissioning date, of which six are recorded as installed.

Projects recorded as installed for 2026

Among the installed projects are Alghat wind, with 600 megawatts in the Riyadh region, and two major solar plants in the Makkah region: Haden solar and Muwayh solar, each at 2 gigawatts. Khushaybi solar adds 1.5 gigawatts in the Al-Qassim region, while Tabarjal solar contributes 400 megawatts in the Al-Jouf region. Waad Al Shammal wind brings 500 megawatts in the Northern Borders region.

Two further solar projects remain under development: Henakiyah 2 solar, with 400 megawatts in the Madinah region, and Rabigh 2 solar, with 300 megawatts in the Makkah region.

The expansion spans multiple regions across the country, combining large-scale solar and wind generation. For residents, a growing renewable-energy base supports long-term goals to diversify the Kingdom's power supply and reduce reliance on conventional fuel for electricity, in line with national energy targets.
