The Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee held discussions with the International Volleyball Federation in October 2026 to explore programs aimed at developing volleyball across Saudi Arabia. The talks focused on building the sport from the grassroots to the national-team level.
Among the areas reviewed were expanding youth participation through schools, developing coaches and referees, and training administrators to strengthen the sport's organizational base. The two sides also discussed support for the national teams, the growth of beach volleyball, and the possibility of hosting international events in the Kingdom.
Support through the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment program was explored for the Saudi national teams, including beach volleyball, as part of efforts to raise competitive standards and broaden the talent pool.
Why it matters
For residents and families across the Kingdom, a stronger volleyball framework could mean more opportunities for young players in schools and local communities, alongside better-trained coaches and officials. Expanding beach volleyball and the prospect of hosting international events would also give fans more chances to follow top-level competition at home.
At this stage, no fees, registration steps, venues, participating clubs, opening dates, or public enrollment channels have been announced. No dedicated government-service procedures were linked to these programs. Saudi Living will share further details as they become available.
